Sugarland Lyrics
Its not just Jennifer’s voice or Kristian’s playing that makes Sugarland one of the premier country music acts around, it’s the incredible Sugarland lyrics. Sugarland has always placed a premium on lyrics, and that is a big part of why their hits resonate with fans.
Sugarland Baby Girl
Baby Girl was the first Sugarland song to gain national notoriety. It tells the somewhat autobiographical story of a “baby girl” trying to make it to the top of the music industry. Fans immediately loved the song, and it spent a total of 46 weeks on the country music charts.
Here is a video of Sugarland performing Baby Girl Live in Green Bay in 2007.
Sugarland Baby Girl Lyrics
They say in this town, stars stay up all night,
Don’t know, can’t see ‘em for the glow of the neon lights.
And it’s a long way from here to the place where the home fires burn.
Well it’s two thousand miles and one left turn.
Dear Mom and Dad,
Please send money, I’m so broke that it ain’t funny.
I don’t need much, just enough to get me through.
Please don’t worry ’cause I’m all right,
I’m playin’ here at the bar tonight.
This time, I’m gonna make our dreams come true.
Well, I love you more than anything in the world…
Love,
Your baby girl.
Black top, blue sky, big town full of little white lies.
Well, everybody’s your friend: you can never be sure.
They’ll promise fancy cars and diamond rings, all sorts of shiny things,
But, girl, you’ll remember what your knees are for.
I know that I’m on my way.
I can tell every time I play.
And I know it’s worth all the dues I pay,
When I can write to you and say…
Dear Mom and Dad,
I’ll send money. I’m so rich that it ain’t funny.
It oughtta be more than enough to get you through.
Please don’t worry ’cause I’m all right,
I’m stayin’ here at the Ritz tonight
Whaddya know, we made our dreams come true.
And there are fancy cars and diamond rings,
But you know that they don’t mean a thing.
They all add up to nothin’ compared to you.
Well, remember me in ribbons an’ curls.
I still love you more than anything in the world…
Love,
“Your baby girl.
Ah yeah.
Your baby girl.
(Dear Mom and Dad,
(Please send money, I’m so broke that it ain’t funny.)
(Don’t need much, just enough to get me through.)
Your baby girl.
(Please don’t worry ’cause I’m all right,
Playin’ here at the bar tonight.
Ooh, ooh, ooh.)
Dreams come true.
Stay by Sugarland:
Stay is one of Sugarland most powerful songs and it marks the first single whose lyrics were completely composed by Jennifer. The emotional story of a woman who must share her man with another woman is one of Sugarland’s most powerful songs. Stay’s accompanying music video also received much praise, and was ranked #10 on CMTs 100 Greatest Videos.
Here is a video of Sugarland performing stay at the CMA awards in 2007:
Sugarland Stay Lyrics:
I been sittin’ here starin’
At the clock on the wall
And I been layin’ here prayin’
Prayin’ she won’t call
It’s just another call from home
And you’ll get it and be gone
And I’ll be cryin’
And I’ll be beggin’ you, baby
Beg you not to leave
But I’ll be left here waitin’
With my heart on my sleeve
Oh, for the next time we’ll be here
Seems like a million years
And I think I’m dyin’
What do I have to do to make you see
She can’t love you like me
Why don’t you stay
I’m down on my knees
I’m so tired of bein’ lonely
Don’t I give you what you need
When she calls you to go
There is one thing you should know
We don’t have to live this way
Baby, why don’t you stay (yeah)
You keep tellin’ me, baby
There will come a time
When you will leave her arms
And forever be in mine
But I don’t think that’s the truth
And I don’t like bein’ used
And I’m tired ‘a waitin’
It’s too much pain to have to bear
To love a man you have to share
Why don’t you stay
I’m down on my knees
I’m so tired of bein’ lonely
Don’t I give you what you need
When she calls you to go
There is one thing you should know
We don’t have to live this way
Baby, why don’t you stay (yeah)
I can’t take it any longer
But my will is gettin’ stronger
And I think I know just what I have to do
I can’t waste another minute
After all that I put in it
I’ve given you my best
Why does she get the best of you
So next time you’ll find
You wanna leave her bed for mine
Why don’t you stay
I’m up off my knees
I’m so tired of bein’ lonely
You can’t give me what I need
When she begs you not to go
There is one thing you should know
I don’t have to live this way
Baby, why don’t you stay, yeah
Oh
All I Want to do by Sugarland
On Sugarland’s third album, the band decided to make the first single a bit more cheerful and fun than some of their other songs. The result is “All I Want to Do” a song that celebrates the fun of being in love. Sugarland has always been known for their lyrics, and while perhaps a bit more laid back than some other Sugarland lyrics, All I Want to Do doesn’t disappoint.
Here is a video All I want to do:
All I Want To Do lyrics:
I don’t want to get up baby, let’s turn off the phone
I don’t want to go to work today or even put my makeup on
I’ve got better things to do than my to-do list anyway
Hide under the covers and waste away the day
Let’s just lay here and be lazy, baby drive me crazy
All I want to do wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wooo
All I want to do wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wooo is love you
I got my whole life to change the world and climb the ladders
Looking at you looking at me is the only thing that matters
Come a little closer baby, we can talk without the words
Hang a sign on the door, please do not disturb
Let’s just lay here and be lazy, baby drive me crazy
All I want to do wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wooo
All I want to do wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wooo is love you
Give me a kiss, from that Elvis lip,
You don’t want to miss this,
All I want to do wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wooo
All I want to do wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wooo is love you wo woo
All I really want to do is,
All I really want to do is,
All I really want to do is love you, love you, love you
Come a little closer baby, we can talk without the words
Hang a sign on the door, please do not, please do not, please do not, please do not disturb
When I lay down in the evening all I really want to do is,
When I wake up, when I wake up in the morning baby, all I really want to do is…
It Happens by Sugarland Lyrics
“It Happens” was the third single from Sugarland’s third album Love on the Inside. Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush wrote the song with fellow country artist Bobby Pinson, just like they did with “All I Want to Do” and “Already Gone”. “It Happens” was another up-tempo song about oversleeping and getting to work late, and later gets into a car accident with her ex-husband and his new girlfriend. Nominated for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group at the 52nd Grammy’s, “It Happens” is one of Sugarland’s most recognized songs, and for good reason. It’s great!
“It Happens” Live Video
It Happens Lyrics
Missed my alarm clock ringing
Woke up telephone screaming
Boss man singing his same old song
Rolled in late about an hour
No cup of coffee, no shower
Walk of shame with two different shoes on
Now it is poor me, why me, oh me
Boring the same old worn out blah blah story
There is no good explanation for it at all
Ain’t no rhyme or reason
No complicated meaning
Ain’t no need to over think it
Let go laughing
Life don’t go quite like you planned it
We try so hard to understand it
Irrefutable, indisputable
The fact is
Psssh
It happens
My trusty-rusty had a flat
I borrowed my neighbors Cadillac
“I’ll be right back,” going down to Wally World
That yellow light turned red too quickly
Knew that the truck moment it hit me
Out stepped my ex and his new girl
(“Sorry ’bout your neck baby”)
But it is poor me, why me, oh me
Boring the same old worn out blah blah story
There is no good explanation for it at all
Ain’t no rhyme or reason
No complicated meaning
Ain’t no need to over think it
Let go laughing
Life don’t go quite like you planned it
We try so hard to understand
Irrefutable, indisputable
The fact is
Psssh
It happens
Ain’t no rhyme or reason
No complicated meaning
Ain’t no need to over think it
Let go laughing
Life don’t go quite like you planned it
We try so hard to understand
Irrefutable, indisputable
The fact is
Yeah, the irrefutable, indisputable, absoluteable, totally beautiful fact is
Psssh
It happens
“Joey” Lyrics by Sugarland
Released in July 2009 as the fourth single from Love on the Inside, “Joey” was written by Kristian Bush, Jennifer Nettles and country singer Bill Anderson. Debuting at #50 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs, “Joey” is backed by an acoustic guitar and tells a story about a woman blaming herself when her love, Joey, dies in a car accident. Peaking at #17 on the US Country Songs chart, “Joey” is one of Sugarland’s more touching songs with a simple sound and slow rhythm.
“Joey” Live at CMA Music Fest 2009
“Joey” Lyrics
What if I said yes?
What if I’d gone out that night?
What if you turned left
Everything would’ve turned out alright?
What if I spoke up?
What if I took the keys?
What if I had tried a little harder
Instead of always trying to please?
Joey, I’m so sorry
Oh, can you hear me?
Joey, I’m so sorry
What if I’d said no?
What if we’d never fell in love?
What if we’d gone slow
Or a little be faster and broken up?
Would I know this hurt?
Would I feel this pain?
[| From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/s/sugarland-lyrics/joey-lyrics.html |]
Do you know that with all I have left
In my very last breath I will call your name?
Joey, I’m so sorry
Oh, can you hear me?
Joey, I’m so sorry
Were you sad? Were you scared?
Did you whisper a prayer to be free?
Was it quiet and cold? Was it light or too dark to see?
And did you reach for me?
Joey, I’m so sorry
Oh, can you hear me?
Joey, I’m so sorry
Oh, can you hear me?
Joey, I’m so
Joey, I’m so sorry

Life in a Northern Town with Jake Owen Live Video
Life in a Northern Town Lyrics
A Salvation Army band played
And the children drank lemonade
And the morning lasted all day, all day
And through an open window came
Like Sinatra in a younger day
Pushing the town away, away
Ah-heya ma ma ma, into the night-ahh
Hey ma ma ma, hey-ay-ay-ay, ah
Life in a northern town
Ah hey ma ma ma ma
They sat on the stony ground
And he took a cigarette out
And everyone else came down to listen
It was the winter 1963
It felt like the world would freeze
With John F. Kennedy and the Beatles, yeah, yeah
Ah-heya ma ma ma, into the night-ahh
Hey ma ma ma, hey-ay-ay-ay, ah
Life in a northern town
Ah hey ma ma ma ma
Ah-heya ma ma ma, into the night-ahh
Hey ma ma ma, hey-ay-ay-ay, ah
They shut the factory down
Ah hey ma ma ma ma
The evening had turned to rain
Watched the water roll down the drain
As we followed him down… to the station
And he would never wave goodbye
You could see it written in his eyes
As the train pulled out of sight, right by
Ah-heya ma ma ma, into the night-ahh
Heya ma ma ma, hey-ay-ay-ay, ah
Life in a northern town
Ah-hey ma ma ma, take it easy on yourself
Ah-heya ma ma ma, into the night-ahh
Heya ma ma ma, hey-ay-ay-ay, ah
Life in a northern town
Ah hey ma ma ma ma
Ah-heya ma ma ma, into the night-ahh
Heya ma ma ma, hey-ay-ay-ay, ah
Life in a northern town
Ah hey ma ma ma ma
Ah-heya ma ma ma, into the night-ahh
Hey ma ma ma, hey-ay-ay-ay, ah
Life in a northern town
Ah hey ma ma ma ma
Stuck Like Glue by Sugarland
“Stuck Like Glue” debuted at #20 on Billboard Hot 100 in August 2010 and was given a “thumbs-up” by Blake Boldt of The 9513, calling the song an “oddball” and “interesting”. The single has sold over 1.5 million copies in the United States and peaked as high as #2 on Billboard US Country Songs chart. As one of their most popular singles, “Stuck Like Glue” is a Sugarland success!

Stuck Like Glue Song Lyrics
mmmmmm better
mmmmmm better
Absolutely no one who knows me better
No one that can make me feel so good
How did we stay so long together
When everybody
Everybody said we never would
And just when I
I start to think they’re right
That love has died
(Chorus)
There you go making my heart beat again
Heart beat again, heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won’t you do it and do it one time
There you go pulling me right back in
Right back in, right back in
And I know I’m never letting this go
I’m stuck on you
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh
Stuck like glue
You and me baby
We’re stuck like glue
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh
Stuck like glue
You and me baby
We’re stuck like glue
Some days I don’t feel like trying
Some days you know I wanna just give up
When it doesn’t matter who’s right
Fight about it all night
And I’ve had enough
You give me that look
I’m sorry baby let’s make up
You do that thing that makes me laugh
And just like that
There you go making my heart beat again
Heart beat again, heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won’t you do it and do it one time
There you go pulling me right back in
Right back in, right back in
And I know I’m never letting this go
I’m stuck on you
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh
Stuck like glue
You and me baby
We’re stuck like glue
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh
Stuck like glue
You and me baby
We’re stuck like glue
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh
You almost stay out
Too stuck together from the ATL
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh
Feeling kinda sick
Just a spoon full of sugar make it better real quick
I say, whoa-oh, whoa-oh
What’cha gonna do with that
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh
Come on over here with that
Sugar sticky sweet stuff
Come on give me that stuff
Everybody want some
Melodies that get stuck
Up in your head
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh
Up in your head
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh
Up in your head
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh
Up in your head
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh
Stuck like glue
You and me together
Say it’s all I wanna do I said
There you go making my heart beat again
Heart beat again, heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won’t you do it and do it one time
There you go pulling me right back in
Right back in, right back in
And I know (I know)
I’m never letting this go (never letting this go)
There you go making my heart beat again
Heart beat again, heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won’t you do it and do it one time
There you go pulling me right back in
Right back in, right back in
And I know (know)
I’m never letting this go (never letting this go)
I’m stuck on you
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh
Stuck like glue
You and me baby
We’re stuck like glue
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh
Stuck like glue
You and me baby
We’re stuck like glue
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh
Stuck like glue
You and me baby
We’re stuck like glue
